Why can people reach the point of genuinely hating celebrities? Scratch that, I
know why, because I’ve been annoyed at some myself. Let’s try a different
question …
–
Should people hate celebrities?
–
The answer is probably not, unless they actually know them in real life. There are
likely several reasons why not to hate an individual celebrity but I’ll focus on the
main one. The celebrity didn’t make themselves famous, other people did! No
one makes themself famous, other people do, and in fact, a lot of other people
are needed to actually make someone a household name. So, if one chooses to
hate or to be seriously annoyed by a famous person’s existence, they should
instead direct their frustrations at the fans and not the celebrity. If no one
showed up to their concerts, their stand up shows, their movies, or watched
their videos, or voted for them, they wouldn’t be a celebrity. So, it makes ‘more
sense’ to be pissed off at the fans and not the individual, as the fame of an
individual is only a reflection of other people’s delights in them. Or, better
yet, instead of hating the fans, a better path is to question why they are fans in
the first place. You might change your mind when you find out why or you’ll at
least have more understanding of why you hate them.

So, next time you get an urge to go on a tirade against Donald Trump, Andrew
Tate, or Kim Kardashian, remember they didn’t make themselves a household
name, their fans did. Sometimes the only difference between a ranting lunatic
and a celebrity is that one is standing alone on a street corner and the other is
on stage with a microphone awaited by an eager audience.
